Ten Best Robot Vacuum And Mop Myths That Aren't Always True

The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo

The Q Revo is a great option for those looking for a mid-range robot vacuum and mop. It has a great mopping performance but lacks some of the features that are found in its more expensive counterpart.

In tests it was able to remove pet hair and dry oats out of medium-pile carpets. It does not use LIDAR however, as other models do to identify your home.

iRobot Roomba s9+

The iRobot Roomba S9+ is one of the most highly-rated robot vacuums. It offers impressive cleaning power and plenty of features, including the self-emptying dirt container built into its charging base. The robot will learn your habits of cleaning, and suggest automated schedules to give you an effortless cleaning experience.

The iRobot Home App guides you through the setup process. Once everything is connected, you can begin the automated cleaning process at the touch of one button. You can opt for an overall clean that focuses on getting rid of larger pieces of debris such as rice and cereal or two thorough maps of your home to ensure your entire home gets a proper look.

This vacuum works well both on bare floors and carpets with a low pile. It can remove pet hair and clean large items up. It doesn't lose its suction as quickly as other robot vacuums. It's a challenge with plush or high-pile carpets however, iRobot claims that future models will be more efficient.

The S9+ is a new design by iRobot that focuses on enhancing the edge and corner cleaning. It's the first Roomba to adopt a flat-fronted, D-shaped design, which it hopes will allow it to hug furniture and walls. It's a step up from the hockey puck-shaped robovacs that are standard however we found it only marginally better than circular models.

iRobot also claims the S9+ has a superior filtering system that stops tiny dust particles and allergens from recirculating within your home. It's a nice premise, however, we're not convinced it's enough to justify the price tag.

Its smart navigation system uses sensors that keep track of your home's layout, and vSLAM technology to map your interior. It can then clean your entire home efficiently by avoiding obstacles like stairs and other obstacles. The iRobot Home app lets you manage the robot and plan cleaning times, and create virtual boundary markers, so it knows to avoid areas that need extra attention.

2. Roborock Q Revo

When it comes to robots that combine vacuuming and mopping, the Roborock Q Revo stands out. Its vac settings are as effective as those on more expensive models and its mopping feature is superior, as its spinning pads do a much more impressive job of cleaning your floors than a stationary vibrating pad.

It's only downside is the absence of a second brush for more thorough cleaning. However, that's not a major issue if you want to own one of the best robots available. The dust tank on the robo-vac is bigger than most of its competitors and filling it up only takes two or three times, even when you've got the most dirt.

For the mopping device, I was impressed by its ability to scrub hard-to-clean dirt from my floors. The two lowest mopping settings that are less powerful than high-powered modes, produce very minimal noise, meaning you can work or even watch television without getting distracted. If it comes across an object, such as a wall or furniture piece, it gently bumps into it and moves forward.

What really distinguishes the Q Revo apart is that it's designed to function almost completely on its own, with no need for human intervention. The dock of the robo-vac has multiple functions and automatically transfers trash into a hidden bin. It also washes, dries and refills the clean water tank. The app is adept at alerting you when something needs attention, like the water tank being empty or a scheduled vacuuming session being cancelled because of a full dust bin.

You can also create or combine actual rooms in order to alter the way Q Revo manages your home. This is an excellent feature for those who have multiple areas of your home with different flooring materials or if there's items that need to be cleared out frequently, like toys, clothes, and books. The robot vacuum was also among the top performers in my test, picking up debris on both carpets as well as hardwood floors with the first attempt. It can even remove wet spills however I would recommend cleaning them off with a cloth before sending the robot in.

3. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni

The X2 Omni is a premium robot mop and vacuum combo with all the features you could wish for. Like the iRobot Roomba S9+, it comes with a powerful vacuum with a powerful suction to clean carpet and hard floors, as well as an omni-rotating mop that scrubs tough stains. It also has a self-cleaning base station that automatically cleans and empty the mop pads, ensuring that they remain them free of germs and ready to use again. It also has a sensor that can detect obstacles better which allows it to avoid falling onto furniture and other objects.

The most significant improvement over the ECOVACS Deebot X1 is that this model is sleeker and more modern design due to Danish firm Jacob Jensen Design (best known for its Bang & Olufsen products). While still quite big--it's over two feet in height and depth and weighs nearly four pounds--the entire robot and its base are smaller than the Roborock Q Revo or iRobot j7.

This model is also more efficient than the X1 version, since it charges faster and can complete a cleaning of approximately 1,500 square feet in one charge. It also comes with a larger and more robust dust bin that can hold more debris. This makes it easier to empty.

The X2 Omni also has a more natural voice assistant and an app that can be used even when you're at home. It also has additional mopping modes as well as an intelligent routing feature which allows it to clean specific rooms or areas of your home instead just following a set path.

The X2 Omni is the most effective mopping performance of any robot we've tested because of its mop pads rotating to remove tough stains and a motor that creates plenty of downward pressure. The vacuuming capabilities are also outstanding, and it also increases suction when it detects carpets to ensure thorough cleaning. It also has a massive battery that can last for weeks between charges, and its mopping mode is as efficient as anything we've seen in the market for a consumer robot.

4. Dreametech L10s Ultra

The Dreametech L10s Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a premium model that comes with a variety of convenience features not often found on robots in this price range. It has the ability to create detailed floor maps, identify various flooring types and is among the few robots that automatically wash and dry the mop pads. These are nice features but they also place the L10s in the premium category. This could make it more expensive than what homeowners would need.

The L10s Ultra looks like a modern floor cleaning machine. It is slim and tall, with a white finish that is complemented by silver elements and mirror plating. The front of the machine is dominated by a huge bumper, which helps protect furniture and vacuum cleaners from damage when moving around the house. Behind the pane at the front is a second navigation technology that is comprised of sensors that aid the L10s Ultra navigate tight corners and avoid obstacles.

On the top of the vacuum, there is a single button which is used as an on/off switch. The button will activate the vacuum. If you click it again, it will turn it off and send it back to its base station. The central control panel has an oblique menu that lets you select cleaning modes or schedules, as well as preferences. The left and right buttons beneath the screen will bring up the settings menu in which you can tweak how the L10s Ultra interacts with your home.

Similar to best rated robot vacuum the iRobot Roomba S9+ and Roborock Q Revo, the L10s Ultra uses a combination of LIDAR and camera-based navigation techniques to map out your house. This produces a precise floor plan that allows the robot vacuum and mop with ease, without getting stuck in areas with clutter. The LIDAR helps the robot vacuum avoid obstacles and recognize them and avoid them, which is a great feature for households with pets or young children.

The L10s Ultra offers solid vacuuming performance that clears 98.4 percent of debris from our hardwood floor test and getting rid of all but the most difficult juice stain. Its mops are also quite efficient, removing 98.4 percent of debris from our wood, tile, and carpet tests. However, it wasn't quite as great at tackling sand on the hard floor and quaker oats on the carpet.
